"She takes your breath away. Ailsa Villegas has a voice that makes you want to listen with a sense of awe and wonder, and beneath the voice are heartfelt lyrics about the things that matter to her. You cant help but feel that you are sharing something special"

Bob Bull, Stage Manager of Free Range Stage,                         Belladrum Music Festival and founder of Glachbeg Folk Club.

About

When I am not making music I work in Health Development and am mum to three year old Lucas.  I am fortunate to live within the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and the nature and wild space around me inspires a lot of my music.

Music has been a huge part of my life since I was a child. My mother was a piano teacher and I was encouraged from an early age to try my hand at many instruments. Singing was my true passion.  I have a home studio where I do most of my writing and recording in my spare time.

Through the internet I collaborate with various producers and artists from around the World.  This enables me to explore new music genres away from my folk roots, in a way i would otherwise find hard, living in such a rural location.  I have had a number of commercial releases on trance labels Neuroscience (UK) Macarize (Sweden) and soon to be Grammermusic (Netherlands) and have collaborated with artists from Italy, USA, Spain and Iran.

I have also in the past been commissioned to do the soundtrack to a wildlife documentary about the Caledonian Pine Forest and to write a song for the Kingussie Food on Film Festival.

My band, The Cask,  have performed at Celtic Connections and appeared at Belladrum Tartan Heart festivaland many other events across Scotland.
